Events 2019

Saturday 20th April – Monday 22nd April – Market Traders: Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, West Sussex

We will be recreating a lively and bustling Tudor town market in the market square. Including making pies in our portable 16th Century oven, ballad selling, hawking kitchen supplies, glass, second hand shoes, rush mats and just about anything anyone would buy!

Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May – Medicine and Health: Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, West Sussex

At this event we will occupy Bayleaf, focussing on medicine and health including tending to patients, preparing medicines and collecting herbs from the garden.

Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th July – Food and Eating: Little Moreton Hall, Congleton, Cheshire

We once again bring this iconic Tudor Manor house to life with the smells of Tudor food. Come and find out how the performance of dining was used to demonstrate wealth and talk to the kitchen workers as they prepare period recipes from scratch.

Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September – Textiles: Weald and Downland Open Air Museum, Singleton, West Sussex

Back in the shops and market square we will set up a tailor’s workshop along side an embroiderer’s shop. In the market hall you can see how integral the wool trade was in Elizabethan England.
