Bespoke Clothing

The Tudor Group has a core of members who have significant experience in cut & construction of clothing. Although we typically cover the Elizabethan period, we also have experience of late Medieval; Henrican and Stuart garments.

All the clothing we produce is based upon surviving evidence, cut & constructed using the techiques available in the period. All is hand-sewn and only authentic materials are used.

Our evidence is not restricted to reviewing publications, we have an active relationship with museums which allow us access to study their reserve collections. A reciprocal arrangement is in place with The Victoria & Albert Museum where we are producing detailed research and observation notes for their catalogues.

Each garment is discussed in detail with the customer and advice is freely given, we will not however compromise accuracy - such as use any techniques which cannot be attributable to the period.

These members of the group have produced clothing for such establishments as The Victoria & Albert Museum, The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust &Shakespeares Globe Theatre. They are willing to undertake commisions to produce clothing for Museums, Theatre, Film or individuals.

Because each garment is bespoke, prices vary enormously, however here are some guideline prices ( materials not included ) :

A late 16th century mans doublet, plain & without decoration.	£300.
A plain shirt with narrow collar.	£80.
A plain pair of mans under-breeches.	£40.
A plain ruff, starched and set.	£200.
A late 16th century loose-fitting outdoor coat.	£120.
A late 16th century Jack of Plates.	£2,000.
A pair of womens bodies made from handwoven linen canvas & stiffened with reeds.	£350
