About Us

The Goodman Family The Tudor Group is an historical interpretation society concentrating on the later Tudor period (1560-1603 ).The Elizabethan era is one of change throughout virtually all aspects of life and The Tudor Group, through enthusiastic demonstrations and talks, attempt to illustrate some of the ordinary facets of life during this fascinating period.

Our members have varying experience ( between 1 and 25 years in historical interpretation ) and The Tudor Group has a growing reputation for enthusiasm and historical accuracy. All of our presentations are supported by numerous years of historical research, in many areas re-evaluating primary evidence. Our presentations are especially suited for the National Curriculum.

Members of the group have co-ordinated or taken part in events on behalf of sponsors such as English Heritage, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust, The Mary Rose Trust, Historic Royal Palaces, The Historic Houses Association and The British Broadcasting Corporation.

Our dedication to accuracy can be seen not only in our professional approach to public entertainment and education, but also in our attention to detail. Our clothing for example is hand-stitched and the construction techniques are drawn from surviving examples and other primary sources. The quality of our clothing particularly, has involved us in advisory work for museums, film and theatre.

Amongst many other initiatives, we have been closely involved with:
