Omagh History Park

Omagh History Park contains a collection of buildings from Irelands history.

We were invited to occupy the English colonial houses of 1610. This included two tradesman houses and the govenors fortified stone-built house.

The trademen were a tailor and a bookbinder, the rest of the members portrayed staff in the govenors house.

This was our first opportunity to cook on peat fires and although we knew the theory, we still learnt from the practice.

We decided to tell this part of Irish history straight from the evidence, despite some concerns we found that all the visitors (from both sides of the divide) were fascinated by the actuality of their history.
