A Dance - The Horses Branle

Rufford Park (2004)

Ruth is our main leader of dances. Here she is teaching the public the steps of a period dance in which you imitate a horse.

Many of the dances are imitations of normal things in period life; horses; washerwomen and hermits are a few.

We use dances from surviving manuscripts and also interpret some from surviving paintings; one being The Egg Dance in which it looks like the dances interpret chickens laying eggs.
