An Unlicensed Ordinary

The Private Room

Avoncroft (2003)

This is a picture of the private room, laid aside for travellers who can afford to pay for their privacy.

The painted cloth hanging, created by The Group, is of Europa and The Bull. It is a crude copy of an engraving, a typical plagarisation practise of such cmmon painters.

The bedspread or coverlet was specially produced for The Group, it is a heavy linen upon which is a hand-blocked pattern in red dye.

The bed is a roped construction with a rush mat and a hay mattress. At this event it was quite comfortable and some members took it in turn to have a period nap !.
