Christmas Fayre

The Cooks Assitant

Mary Rose Trust - Portsmouth (2003)

Jon is holding a piece of silver birch; this is a modern piece of firewood that matches those actually found onboard the ship.

Such firewood is ideal for the firebox and need very little work. Only the thicker pieces need splitting down into halves or quarters, which is what Jon is preparing to do here.

Jon is dressed in typical Henrican clothing. While The Group normally interprets the Elizabethan era, we have a number of members who do the earlier Tudors and the Early Stuarts as sponsors often ask for the neighbouring periods.
