Out Of The Window

The main upstairs room was used as a dormitory room. A number of beds lined the walls of this otherwise relatively spartan room.

In the period, such rooms were the norm. Travellers would pay to sleep on the floor or extra to use a bed; possibly even sharing a bed with an otherwise unknown traveller to save money.

This picture shows a woman and child who were staying in the room enjoying the early light.
