Information for New Members

The Tudor Group is keen to welcome new members of all ages and all backgrounds. We do, however, find it best to limit the number of people joining at any one time. We like to offer a good deal of help and support to new members, so prefer to be able to focus on a few at a time in order to be as generous with our time, help and advice as it is needed.

Joining the Tudor Group can be a big commitment, but we hope that it also brings big rewards.

Everyone has to start somewhere and we are all very happy and willing to give assistance to new members with clothes, information, equipment and so on. We have several group workshops every year where members come together to learn skills from one another and help each other with various projects, for example, cutting out a new gown, dyeing some cloth, making aglets or benches. We also have an extensive library to help people do their own research when they wish, and we actively encourage all members to be engaged with ongoing research, particularly in areas of their own specific interest.

The process for joining is simple. First contact our membership secretary. - membership[anti-spam]@tudorgroup.co.uk - and we will invite you to visit one of our events so that you can see what we do and what sort of people we are. You are welcome to stay for the evening or indeed camp with us overnight to get to know us socially. If you feel that we are the right group for you, we can begin helping you to get some basic clothes together.

As a member you will be part of a team. In the Tudor Group we work together, with everyone mucking in with loading and unloading vans, cooking and washing up, maintaining equipment and so forth.
